Reorganising Hospital Layouts for safe Scaffolding at Aintree and NHS Sites.

Case Study:

Aintree Hospital

Merseyside Scaffolding was selected to scaffold the Victoria Gallery and Museum at the University of Liverpool, a Grade II listed** building originally constructed in 1889 and is credited as ‘The original Redbrick’. The project involved replacing the roof, which had reached the end of its lifespan, while maintaining the gallery’s day-to-day operations and protecting the building’s historic character.

Merseyside Scaffolding provided expert scaffolding services across several NHS sites, including Aintree Hospital, Broad Green Hospital, Royal Liverpool Hospital, and Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. The primary focus of this case study is the work at Aintree Hospital’s internal courtyard, where the firm faced significant logistical challenges while maintaining hospital operations and public safety.

Key Challenge at Aintree Hospital

At Aintree, the team was tasked with erecting scaffolding in a high-traffic area, requiring them to segregate scaffolding materials and workers from hospital staff, patients, and the public. This involved careful planning to ensure that emergency vehicle access remained unrestricted while minimizing disruption to the hospital’s daily activities.

Solutions and Outcome

Merseyside Scaffolding's exceptional ability to manage complex environments and safety protocols earned the trust of hospital management, who recognized the firm’s reputation for reliability and efficiency. The team quickly reorganized hospital areas, keeping the flow of people moving safely and smoothly while adhering to strict deadlines. The project was completed on time, without compromising health and safety, and with minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Merseyside Scaffolding’s track record for keeping public safety a top priority and reorganizing busy, live hospital environments effectively was instrumental in the success of this project, reinforcing their trusted position as a key partner for NHS infrastructure projects.
