Liverpool John Moores University
Minimising Disruption in a High-Traffic Student Environment
Case Study:
Auburn Roberts Library, Liverpool John Moores University
Merseyside Scaffolding was selected for the scaffolding project at the Auburn Roberts Library at Liverpool John Moores University due to their proven expertise in working efficiently within busy, high-traffic environments. The company is well-known for its ability to complete complex projects with minimal disruption, particularly in university settings where maintenance is an ongoing necessity.

Project Requirements and Challenges
The project at Auburn Roberts Library involved installing scaffolding around the roof area of the building, with specific challenges related to maintaining student experience and campus operations. The scaffolding had to be erected outside of working hours to avoid disruption to students and staff. Key requirements included:

--Edge protection: for the roof to ensure safety during maintenance.
- Cantilever scaffolding: designed to extend out and be pushed up from the internal roof trusses, minimising disruption to pedestrian traffic below.
- Careful accommodation of high foot traffic, ensuring access to fire escape routes and emergency services was never blocked.
- Preserving the aesthetic of the university campus while maintaining structural integrity.

Solution and Outcome
Merseyside Scaffolding successfully managed the project by constructing the scaffolding without impacting the day-to-day life of the university. The cantilevered design kept scaffolding away from student pathways and minimized any interference with the campus's aesthetic. With all work completed outside of regular hours, the scaffolding was erected efficiently, meeting safety standards while preserving the university’s environment and student experience. The project highlighted Merseyside Scaffolding’s expertise in balancing complex logistical challenges with safety, efficiency, and respect for university operations.
